கடல் இதயம் (sea heart) கடலின் அடித்தரையில் மண்ணில் புதைந்து வாழும் உயிரியாகும். இதன் உடல் மனித இதயத்தை ஒத்திருப்பதால் இது கடல் இதயம் எனப்படுகிறது. இதன் உடல் சிறிய முள்களால் மூடப்பட்டுள்ளதாலும், நீர்குழாய் மண்டலம், குழாய்க்கால்கள் முதலிய பல பண்புகளாலும் இது முள்தோலிகள் தொகுதியில் சேர்க்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

உடலமைப்பு

கடல் இதயம் முட்டை வடிவான உடலமைப்பைக் கொண்டது. முன்பகுதி சற்றுத் தட்டையானது. இதில் வாய் உள்ள பின்பகுதி குவிந்து காணப்படுகிறது. இப்பகுதியில் மலத்துளை காணப்படுகிறது. ஏனைய முள்தோலிகளில் உள்ள ஆர்ச் சமசீரமைப்பு இக்கடல் இதயத்தில் இல்லை.

வாழ்வியல்

இது மண்ணில் புதைந்துள்ள சிறு கரிமப்பொருள்களை உணவாகக் கொள்ளும். அமைப்பில் இதன் உள்ளுறுப்புகள் பிற முள்தோலிகளின் உள்ளுறுப்புகளை ஒத்திருக்கும். வாழுமிடங்களில் ஒளியை விலக்கி இருளையே நாடுகிறது. ஆண், பெண் புற வேறுபாடுகள் இதில் இல்லை. முட்டையிட்டு இனப்பெருக்கம் செய்யும் இவ்வகை விலங்கில் கருவுறுதல் கடல் நீரில் நடப்பதால் கலவி நடைபெறுவதில்லை.
